Lapis-tsavorite garnet 14k yellow gold drop necklace.
Sometimes it's all about color. Gemstones represent the purest, most intense colors in nature. Historically, certain types of gemstones were ground into powder and used as pigments for paint. As jewelry designers, we always keep an eye out for particularly vibrant gemstones and when possible, acquire them. Such is the case with the suite of gems in our latest custom necklace.
One of our gemcutters featured an astoundingly vivid and uniquely faceted Lapis gemstone on his social media page and we were sold. After purchasing it, we put it into our "awesomely cool" gemstone tray where it sparkled at us for some time while we tried to figure out how to best use it.
Sometimes colors can play off other colors to create an even more wonderful effect. We often use a combination of blue and green, it really pleases the eye. We had three Tsavorite garnet trillion-cut gems in the same tray which displayed the same level of color saturation as the Lapis and so we arranged them with each other until this configuration suggested itself.
The design of this necklace is intentionally simple, showcasing the color and sparkle within 14 carat gold "picture frames". All the focus is on the gemstones and their relation to each other. You can almost hear their conversation. We couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.
