One of a kind Australian opal 14k yellow gold ring.
We have a weakness for Opals, there is just something magical about them. No two are alike, they appear drastically different in different lights, they are ethereal, dreamy, ultimately unique. We are
always drawn to them and helpless in their glow. There are worse vices, I suppose. We've made friends with an Australian Opal mining family who lives in Lightning Ridge, hundreds of miles out in the Outback,
a town accessible only by dirt roads, where Koalas and Kangaroos are a common sight. The owner, Vicki, always has the most amazing and absolutely delicious opals. Her glittering booth is one of our very first stops when we attend the Tucson Gem Show every February and she never fails to astound us with something wondrous. This Opal was one of hers. We were immediately drawn into its lovely green and blue pinfire. The shape, a perfectly proportioned oval, the polish, deep and beautiful, the result of Vicki's secret blend of polishing oxides. We had to buy it.
To compliment it, we designed this square-backed, contemporary-style ring which showcases this amazing gemstone without competing with it. Subtle design elements are visible from the side. The chiseled texture of the inset spaces contrast perfectly with the high polish of the band. Four partial bezels hold the stone securely without obstructing the fire of the opal. An Opal ring designed by Opal-lovers for Opal-lovers.
Ring mounting: 14k yellow gold; shoulders of the ring are 2.8mm wide. Opal: 2.4ct, approx. 11mmx7mm.
The ring is currently size 6.25, we could size it one size up or one size down, please inquire.
